Santiago González Larraín

  Chancellor

Civil Engineer from Universidad de Santiago de Chile, he has a Post Degree in Business and Administration of la Universidad Católica de Chile, and a Diploma in Project Evaluation at Universidad de Chile.

His career have been long and distinguished , between 2008 and 2010, he served as Minister of Mines of the Republic of Chile, during the government of President Michelle Bachelet, also taking in this period the President of the Boards in the public companies, CODELCO, ENAP and Enami. During his period he was the president of Chilean copper commission, Cochilco, government agency designed to monitor and evaluate the management of the large state-owned copper mining.

About his academic and professional activities he has participated in conferences related to the mining sector in the cities of Beijing, Quito, Toronto, Lima and Mexico City, as well as international consulting the government of Ecuador. He currently leads, as director, a project Fondef that works promoting community relations in the mining sector.

At Universidad Central de Chile he has been Director of the School of Mines and Natural Resources and Mining Development Program, both under the Faculty of Engineering of our institution. In addition, he served as Vice Chancellor of Institutional Development.
